Message from the Principal |

Martha Castellanos is proud to serve the Hawthorne community as Hawthorne Middle School Principal. Ms. Castellanos has over 25 years of experience, focused in middle school and high school education. Most recently, Ms. Castellanos served as the Hawthorne Math and Science Academy Assistant Principal for seven years. The 2022-2023 school year is her first at HMS, and she looks forward to collaborating with HMS staff to create a safe learning environment that fosters a great middle school experience for students. Her personal experience is similar to the students she works with as she grew up and currently lives in the area. By building relationships with families, Ms. Castellanos aims to gain insight about support needed to help students maximize their potential and achieve. She believes that the middle school years are essential in developing the skills and habits that will prepare students for high school. Martha Castellanos se enorgullece de servir a la comunidad de Hawthorne como directora de la escuela secundaria Hawthorne. La Sra. Castellanos tiene más de 25 años de experiencia, enfocada en la educación secundaria y preparatoria. Más recientemente, la Sra. Castellanos se desempeñó como asistente principal de la Academia de Matemáticas y Ciencias de Hawthorne (HMSA) por siete años. El año escolar 2022-2023 es el primero en HMS y espera colaborar con el personal de HMS para crear un entorno de aprendizaje seguro que fomente una excelente experiencia de escuela intermedia para los estudiantes. Honors Title I schools that have demonstrated success in significantly closing the achievement gap between high and low-performing students. |
Red Ribbon Week |
Every year, the California State Assembly celebrates and recognizes Red Ribbon Week by providing students with tools and materials that encourage them to say "no" to drugs. My office will have certificates and bookmarks available for this effort. |
